Ellen remembers it vividly. She was attending a party at Charlie’s house in Kansas City and through the crowd of mutual friends, something caught her eye. She knew it was love at first site. Charlie’s dog Pumpkin was the cutest thing she’d ever seen. Since the party was hosted by Charlie’s roommate at the time, fate would have it the Ellen and Charlie wouldn’t even meet until weeks later. 

Charlie remembers it vividly. He was walking through the plaza with a friend when he stumbled upon Ellen and her friend having margaritas on the patio. And just like that, Charlie didn’t know how or when, but he had to find a way to get her on a date. Charlie knew Ellen was the one. 

The couple’s first date was at Café Trio in Kansas City, but their anniversary is still unknown as the relationship just felt natural. The relationship grew through fun date nights, Chiefs games, and trips around the county. Charlie would get to go camping and do yoga for the first time. Ellen played more golf, learned how to use both a paint and a caulk gun fixing up Charlie’s house, and somehow still found a way to avoid getting sucked into Game of Thrones. 

Three years, and hundreds of date nights later, on January 7th 2021, Ellen had both déjà vu and butterflies walking into the same restaurant they had their first date restaurant for what she thought was a standard date night. As the host lead them to their table the couple was taken upstairs to a private room filled with roses and balloons. The proposal was intimate, and as you already know Ellen said “yes”. Champagne was popped and the celebrating of the couples’ forever future began. 

Charlie and Ellen cannot thank their amazing friends enough for bringing them together. They are blessed and thankful to have the love of their families to help foster their relationship. The couple lives in Kansas City. They love spending time traveling, eating, socializing with friends, and binge-watching TV. Yes, they still both adore the dog Pumpkin. More than anything they love making each other laugh.
